Online Jewellery Shopping Or Touch Screen Pieces Of Jewelry?

What About Purchasing Contemporary Jewelry From An ATM?

The most current jewellery news articles reveal that online jewellery shopping has moved on a step. A gold ATM machine is now vending contemporary jewellery and gold coins - in India. But although many people have learned to have faith in online jewellery shopping, purchasing from a machine has not proved as popular as internet or over-the-counter purchases by those who know their own preferences.

India's first ATM machine has been proven as a discussion piece but purchasers benefit from the experience of talking to a real sales representative. And looking at special jewelry items on the internet is the next best thing.

Lots of gold is sold inside the enormous country of India with over 900 tonnes of bullion changing hands. For that reason if machine-sold gold and jewelry isn't hitting the jackpot there, it is improbable that an ATM dishing out sparkling jewels would succeed within the UK. It most certainly wouldn't be popular in the rather conservative Orkney Islands - people here love to shop locally online at http://www.olagoriejewellery.com.

But the machine's founder is hopeful about the new device for jewellery buyers. "There is investment purchase in this machine, there is gifting in the machine and there's self-indulgence," says Sanjeev Agarwal, chief executive of Gitanjali Exports, which has developed the appliance. "On the first day of the launch earlier this month there were some 28 purchases."

The automated dispenser dishes out diamond jewelry whilst the smallest gold coin available weighs in at a gram and costs something like 40. The touchscreen display offers on the spot satisfaction but could lead to impulse buys, we fear.

Gitanjali hopes the robotic teller devices, besides being far more economical to operate than the usual store, will enable the firm to attain a wider base of buyers and offer a handy method to buy in a country that's adopting technology advances speedily. The stand-alone prototype golden box, slightly taller and wider than the usual standard cash ATM, stands alongside the entrance of a busy Indian shopping center, constructed so it is secure against drills and guarded by video cameras.

A Viable Alternative to Online Jewellery Shopping?

Shoppers use a touch-screen to navigate the items being offered and may pay with either bank cards or cash. Agarwal argues that people were wary of ATM cash machines the moment they were unveiled but are now very happy to utilize them and that is how his new customers will relate to these machines, over time.

He aims to unveil 75 of the automatic devices over the next 3 years, in airports, shopping centers and at faith based sites. We wonder whether people within the Northern Isles would decide to try buying Orkney jewellery dispensed from an ATM outside St Magnus Cathedral. We think online jewellery shopping and purchases over-the-counter will remain the most popular options here!
