Celebrity marriage Trends in todays contemporary society

By Richard Barker

In any particular year certain trends emerge among the rich and famous especially when it comes down to weddings. So what's been 'hot ' in 2012?

One surprising trend is a movement toward what might be called a rustic touch. When Natalie Portman married Benjamin Millepied they included a vegan banquet and wildflower seeds as favours. Accompanying that were wildflower decorations. In a similar way Drew Barrymore kept it straightforward by hosting her wedding in a garden bursting with roses and other pink flowers.

We've also seen various celebrities going for the casual look at their marriage. Chris O'Dowd (Bridesmaids) and Dawn Porter, for example, wore tracksuits for their reception. Definitely cosy (maybe they are preparing to run from snappers). Jake Own and Lacey Buchanan went for shoes-off and khakis for their beach front marriage. Here's hoping no sand got in the cake!

A 3rd trend in celebrity marriages can be described with one word: color, and masses of it. By miles pink has been the new white this year. Reese Witherspoon, Anne Hathaway and Gwen Stefani are three outstanding faces in the new color trend. Having designers like Vera Wang bringing pink into her line certainly does not hurt its acceptance. Also having magazines like Brides creating the 'Something Pink ' initiative for breast cancer research, and you have got the perfect recipe for seeing pink for several more seasons. Mind you it's not just romantic pink making an appearance. We are seeing more and more wedding outfits in purple and red. Amber Tamblyn of General Hospital celebrity wore a sunny yellow dress for her nuptials.

The fourth wedding trend among celebrities isn't truly anything new it just hasn't disappeared: the giant engagement band. While meant to make a statement, some of these rings look like mountains on miniscule hands. Kim Kardashian received a diamond that weighed in at over 20 carats. Overcompensation didn't seem to help that marriage, so maybe less is truly better.

Finally it might appear that celebrity weddings are going to the dogs literally. Adam Sandler brought his bulldogs who walked down the aisle along with the rest of the marriage party. In a similar way Gavin Rossdale (Gwen Stafani's husband) brought his sheepdog bearing the wedding ring in a tote bag. Warning: this is not an option that all locations support.

Mind you all of these style statements do not mean the modern bride can't return to conventional white and reasonable jewelry. The idea of a faster reception definitely holds appeal from a budget standpoint. In other words, take these ideas with a pinch of salt. It is, after all , your wedding and you can host it without the Hollywood glitz and glam.
