5 Simple Wedding Thank You Card Tips

By Josh Shelley

Most people have had little experience when it comes to writing thank you cards. They may have done a few for graduation or maybe even a couple to grandma and grandpa for their birthday presents but most likely not more than a dozen during their lifetime. Because of this writing wedding thank you cards can feel a little overwhelming when you have a few hundred to do.

Here are a few helpful tips to make writing your thank you cards quick and painless.

Tip #1: Don't Wait Until After The Wedding

You do not have to wait until after the wedding to start on your thank you notes. You may receive a handful of gifts before your actual wedding day. You can start writing your thank yous as soon as the preset arrives.

Tip #2: Break It Up Into Smaller Parts

Just like a race you will need to pace yourself in order to make it through all of your thank you cards. If you try to get them all done in one grand attempt you are most likely going to burn out and will either not finish or you guests will get a generic thank you that is as good as not sending them a card at all.

Tip #3: Mention The Gift In Your Note

Your thank you notes should not be a generic thank you for coming we appreciate the gift. You will want your guests to feel appreciated. In order to do this you should mention that the exact gift you were given as well as a few nice words about it.

Tip #4: What To Say About A Cash Gift

If you were given money as your wedding gift it is appropriate to tell you guests what you are planning on using the money for. For example, you can say. "Thank you for your gift. It will allowed us to have a fabulous honeymoon in Hawaii"

Tip #5: Have a Good Pen

Now that you are married you can stop using the cheap pens that you stole form the bank. Invest in a good ballpoint pen that will not leave clumps of ink that are going to smear when you mail your card.
