In six months time, my parents will be celebrating their golden wedding anniversary. Since they have already renewed their vows on their 25th wedding anniversary, that is not going to be an option for them this year. And neither is a big party. My parents just want to be with us their children and grandchildren. A nice quiet dinner at a reputable restaurant is how they want to celebrate it.
As I am the oldest among the siblings, the responsibility of organising one is on my shoulders. All siblings were in different parts of the country, thus setting up an actual meeting will definitely be out of the question. We had to rely solely on the technologies that have been afforded us. One brother said he wanted a program. One sister said that she liked that idea. I said that grandchildren should have a presentation. All of us know how our parents adored all their grandchildren. We know without a doubt that our parents love us. We all knew they didn't have any favourites, they all loved us equally.
One of my sisters proposed that we will present our parents with a beautiful gift. Finding an appropriate gift is one big hurdle that we needed to get over. One other sister stated that if we were to give them a gift, it should be something that's somewhat related to a golden wedding anniversary. A set of palladium wedding rings would be a good idea, one brother suggested. None of us had any clue what he was talking about. He explained that palladium is part of the platinum group of metals. The five diamonds manifested the 50 years that our parents have been together in good and in bad times. In return for the love our parents have shown us, we give them these gifts to let them how much we care for them.
They were very surprised by the presentations of their grandkids. But they were very glad to see the grandchildren and happier to witness their song numbers and dance presentations. We saw that our parents were very thrilled with everything. They were clapping their hands all the time and the smile on their lips reached their eyes. Then came the surprise gifts. Everybody was silent as we told our parents how much we love them. Because of their sacrifices, we have made better lives for our own families. And we bequeathed them with the gifts. Our parents were speechless. They did not expect anything such as these. They were grateful to have good and loving children.
